Battery Type
AGM Battery - stands for Absorbed Glass Material -

Amps: 104 (full charged)
Watts: app. 1200w (plus, click here for more watts info)

Volts: 12v

    Forged terminals assure no leakage.
Construction ensures voltage matches between cells  For more battery
info, click here

Sealed Absorbed Technology: Completely sealed; valve regulated battery with efficient recombination.  Rated non-spillable by ICAO--IATA-DOT.  Contact us for more info about the battery.

Charge Controller:
This device regulates the electrical energy between your panels and inverter.  It makes sure you do not overcharge batteries and other controlling functions.

Inverter: An electrical device that that converts direct current (DC) electricity (from a solar panel for example) to alternating current (AC) to operate appliances or to supply power to a electricity grid.  An inverter changes low voltage DC into 110 V or 230 V AC.  Basically there are two types: "True Sine Wave" and "Modified Sine Wave." We only offer the True Sine Wave.  The Basic generator comes with a 110 volts /
60 amp.

"True (or Pure) Sine Wave" Inverter:   The type of alternative current that best runs  generators, rotary inverters, and complex solid-state electronics.
Typically doesn't transmit noise to other equipment and is close to the type of electrical current used in the home.  Use for audio-visual appliances, computer-related devices, ceiling fans, phone message machines, motion sensing lights, intercoms, or alarms, etc.

The other type of inverter -- "
Modified" (or "Square") Sine Wave Inverter -- is typically used for non-sensitive electronics (like motors).   At this time, we are not selling this type with the Basic packages (contact us for more info).

* Note: these figures are considered estimates only... run times will vary...  this chart assumes you have a full-charged battery (at least 100 amp-hour) with full sun on panel while running appliance.  Data is for a 50 watt solar panel and appropriate true sine wave inverter (recommended by manufacturer.  Things like angle and degree of the sun (plus temperature and condition of devices) always influence how well appliances are powered by solar energy systems. See more data tables by clicking here: Sample Run Times

What is Surging Watts? - anyway...
Be very aware of the watts used during surge and non-surge times.  Even laptops can put out more
watts than expected when operating many software programs at once, or watching a video...
Look at the back of the appliance, or in the manual to double check the maximum amount of watts
and make a note.  Your solar source should always be more than the maximum watts.  Read on...

From the technical engineer:
Solar electricity can be complex, there are no two ways about it.  Knowing a solar electrician is recommended.  In the basic solar generator, there is the instantaneous power output, which is 600 watts on the AC side and 15amps on the DC side (about 180watts).  But if you run at full power continuously you will quickly drain the battery. Then there is the energy storage in the battery.  104 amp-hrs x 12V = 1248w-hrs, but the LVD shuts off at about 20% state of charge, so overall you get about 1000 usable watt-hours stored in the battery. Then there is how fast you can recharge the battery.  For this you need to know how many panels, the location and the season it is being used.  For New England, in the summer, you might estimate 4 hours of full-sun per day (it would be more for the hotter areas of California, New Mexico and Arizona).  So with the 80 watt panel you can get about 320watt-hours per day.  But with 3 panels in the summer you could just about recharge a fully drained battery each day.

Battery - care and caution: The mobile solar generator battery will probably be the first component in the system that will need replacing.  If you treat it right, it will last maybe 5 years or even more.  The unit needs to be charged every couple of months even if you are not using it to power devices on a regular basis. If the battery is abused it will not last long at all.  Segue to Solar and manufacturer are not responsible for batteries which have been abused.  Abuse includes dropping them, shorting them, leaving them sitting for months at a time without charging, continuing to draw power from the battery after the LVD has been activated, or leaving the inverter switched on while the unit is unattended.  The standard warranty for this solar powered generator covers working quality for 1 year.

Solar Generator Merchandise returns and warranty:

All returns will be coordinated with the manufacturer, who requires a Return Merchandise Authorization number.
If a unit needs to be returned it must be be shipped back to manufacturer in original packaging at buyers cost.
Returns are subject to a 25% restocking fee. Click here for more information: specific warranty information.

Ordering time for Mobile Solar Generator:  Please allow 2-3 weeks (sometimes more) for lead time, if your
order didn't get in the manufacturing quarter at the time (contact us for info on manufacturing times).

Shipping Weight: app. 140 to 180 pounds (for "The Basic" option - two and three panel options will be more) - see
"more info".  Exact shipping weight depends on options and location (click on the "more info button" above).
